Out Of The Fold
Out Of The Fold is an international multi-disciplinary project based on the Surrealist game exquisite corpse in which four artists draw sections of a body in turn (also known as consequences). It is in four stages, or folds, of which photography is the first.
In the summer of 2008, artists across the world were asked to complete a disposable camera film in response to a set of 27 titles. We now have India, Russia, Turkey, Sweden, and the UK (amongst others), captured through the lenses of artists and photographers, each with their own particular interpretation of the titles.
The work was exhibited at The Sassoon Gallery, between the 17th and 30th December 2008.
For the second fold, we are inviting sound artists to create pieces inspired by these photos. From these pieces, video artists will work, and writers from them, until we have an international exquisite corpse.
Through an online gallery and network, Out Of The Fold hopes to establish, refresh and continue links between people creating works of art across the world.
