Exhibition until the 11th July
The dissemination of promotional material to advertise bands and music venues has been a wide source of inspiration for artists as well as being an art form in itself. Throughout musical history, artists have found new methods of communication to promote the impact of new musical acts; from the more iconic figures like Toulouse Lautrec, Peter Blake and Jamie Reid to the anonymous poster and flyer makers in underground subcultures like punk, techno and death metal.
The contributors in this exhibition have each generated a campaign for an imaginary music band named Reg Perfect and the Squeeges. The word play in the title alludes to technical terms in printing and the morning registration in school. Each artist will generate a piece of work that envisages the bands image using their own experiences and influences of art and music.
Pat And Trevor have used a discarded licence plate printing machine to make two pieces of work; 'perfect' and 'parfait'.
